Legislative Update: 4/20/07

Helmet Repeal- HB 155

http://www.house.mo.gov/bills071/bills/hb155.htm

A bill to repeal the state’s helmet law for motorcyclists has advanced in the Senate, for more information, click on the link above.

Primary Safety Belt Law- HB 90

http://www.house.mo.gov/bills071/bills/HB90.htm

Currently laid over in the house, this bill would allow for law enforcement to do a traffic stop for vehicles whose driver is not wearing a safety belt.  Currently, not wearing a safety belt is a secondary offense and drivers need to be stopped for other offenses before a ticket can be issued for non-use of the belt.

Please do what you can to inform your local representatives about this important legislation that will save lives.  More information about how primary safety belts save lives at www.savemolives.com.
